The Shawl Ministry at First Congregational Church of River Edge was organized by Alice Rushforth with the "First Gathering" on January 10, 2004.
Knitters and crocheters (yarn people) meet regularly at the church. Meetings are usually scheduled for the second Thursday at 1:30 pm. All knitters and crocheters are welcome. (Many non-church members participate!) Come join the friendly group and spend a relaxing time in our church Commons.
Virtually all of the items made are given away to those who need that extra bit of warmth, whether physically (for the homeless) or spiritually (for those suffering from illness or loss of loved ones).
